Class Representative

A class representative is the link between a class/faculty and the IHI Open School Executive Leadership team. The Executive Leadership Team is dependent upon the invaluable feedback received from Class Representatives in order to make the best decisions for the student population and the future of the Chapter. The Class Representative can bring forward any opinions, concerns and ideas from their classmates regarding their experience with the Chapter.

  • Ensure that your classmates are properly represented and completely informed;

Committee Members

Committees are responsible for assisting with the delivery of Improvement Projects, Shadowing/Observership, and Seminar (more information on these initiatives are available at utihiopenschool.ca).

1.) Quality Improvement Project Kick-off Event Committee

This is a great opportunity for students who want to be involved with QI projects but are not able to commit for 7 months. The committee is responsible for planning and preparing the QI projects kick-off event for students and champions in October. During the kick-off event, student teams will have the chance to meet their champion, better understand their roles and expectations for their project, and hear testimonials from past participants and guest speakers. To make this event a success, we need the help of 4-6 people who can do the following (these tasks will be shared among members of the committee):

  • Plan and order the food and drinks;
  • Book room/event space;
  • Coordinate guest speakers and past participants;
  • Organize and control media during the event (powerpoint, sound);
  • Set up the room for the event (tables, chairs);
  • Create signage for the event, create name plates for guests;
  • Attend the event and usher/direct guests; and
  • Clean up room after the event.

2.)  Quality Improvement Shadowing/Observership Committee

  • Arrange observership opportunitie in quality improvement and patient safety with observership lead
  • Connect with relevant healthcare improvement organizations
  • Represent UT IHI during pre-Observership meetings with participants

3.) Seminar Committee

  • Help organize seminars throughout the academic year
  • Help advertise seminar eventsInteract with seminar participants speakers and participants
  • Identify and contact potential speakers
  • Help continuous quality improvement of each session
  • Meet champions in healthcare improvement
